HAND STYLES
Spray paint on treated canvas with flexible interlayer system
My hand styles series confronts the inherent conflict between spray paint (a brittle medium) and canvas (a flexible surface). I've developed a flexible interlayer system to suspend spray paint between protective coatings, though I maintain that this pairing remains conceptually provocative.
These works merge calligraphic mark-making with hip-hop's lyrical foundation, creating non-repeating patterns from classic rap lyrics. The visual rhythm honors the MCs who built this culture while questioning traditional material expectations in fine art contexts.
